ABOUT THE SHOW

Join us in the Grandi Auditorium as The Arts at CCHS presents, "The Mystery of Edwin Drood"

"The Mystery of Edwin Drood" is a captivating and interactive musical whodunit that plunges the audience into the heart of the mystery, transforming them into amateur detectives. Adapted from Charles Dickens' unfinished novel of the same name, this uproarious production unfolds in the quaint English town of Chesterham, where the charming Edwin Drood meets a mysterious demise. The question that lingers: Who is the culprit? Could it be his envious romantic rival, John Jasper? Perhaps the notorious purveyor of opium and vice, Princess Puffer, holds the key? Or do the enigmatic Landless twins, fresh arrivals from Ceylon, harbor dark secrets? Dickens, unfortunately, left this puzzle unsolved before his passing.

Rupert Holmes, the creative mind behind this award-winning musical, ingeniously empowers the audience to unravel the mystery by casting their votes on the identity of the murderer. This interactive element adds a thrilling layer to the production. The play unfolds within a play, staged by the Music Hall Royale, a wandering Victorian theater troupe bursting with as much personality as the characters they portray. This innovative storytelling technique invites the audience to step into a world where all actors assume dual roles: one as a member of the Music Hall Royale and the other as the character they portray in "The Mystery of Edwin Drood."

Whether you're a fan of musicals or mysteries, this charming and inventive production is sure to captivate and delight.
